About Alessia
Alessia Stracuzzi is an Italian dancer, choreographer, and video maker. She graduated from the Opus Ballet Choreographic Center in Florence in 2021 and continued her studies at La Faktoria Choreographic Center in Pamplona in 2022. Alessia has performed in works by renowned choreographers such as Daniel Abreu, Lali Ayguadé, and Jean Gabriel Maury and took part in a docufilm TIME TAKES TIME by Tillman O'Donnell and Cyril Baldy, which was featured in several international film festivals in 2020/21.
Since January 2024, she has been a principal cast member of Ritournelle by Echo Dance Company (Brussels), playing the role of "the mother." Between April and September 2024, she assisted Lila Magnin for her new production Sāmara, created with Les Magnifique and premiered at Balsamine (Brussels).
Alessia began her choreographic research in 2020, focusing on the interplay between image, sound, and movement and exploring how these elements can shape each other. Her video projects "Lockdown" and "What Makes It Lively" were selected and streamed at numerous international festivals. Currently, she is developing a personal movement language grounded in a strong connection between music, the body's impulsive response to it, and the emotional journey that unfolds. Her exploration also involves experimenting with digital elements.
Her solo piece, "Altered Frequencies" has been selected for COLLAGENE 2024, MArte Live Italia, and CosiDanzi, and it won the VII edition of Corpo Mobile in Rome and the III edition of Lens Dans Festival in Barcelona. Alessia’s current projects include "Maintenant" a collaboration with Dabedeen, selected for the Road To Nowhere program by Dare to Share Collective, with a residency planned for May 2025. She is also working on "Don't Be Shy" a piece she is directing and choreographing with three dancers and one singer . This project had a residency at Theatre House in Berlin in October 2024 and will continue in residency at Teatro Lido di Ostia in April 2024.

Altered Frequencies
2023-2024
In a hypothetical world where human moods are influenced by music, every note, sound and noise can transport you on an emotional roller coaster and probably drive you crazy.
Altered Frequencies researches the close relationship between the body and music, trying to experiment with how instinctive and sensitive reactions can be. It is inspired by the phenomenon of Highly Sensitive People and their "skewed" perception of reality. The different functioning of their neurological system, which is more active and sensitive, makes them easily subject to overstimulation and overload, perceiving subtle details of the environment and social relationships that others cannot perceive.
The goal is to put a positive spin on what the world sees as vulnerability. In a society where everything is always hectic and emotions are rarely discussed, empathy for others, inner listening, and respect for one's own limitations could radically change the collective view of reality.
Solo selected for COLLAGENE 2024, MArte Live Italia, and CosiDanzi, and it won the VII edition of Corpo Mobile in Rome and the III edition of Lens Dans Festival in Barcelona.
Don't Be Shy
2024-2025
A romantic and rather melancholic dedication to the female body and its sensuality.
DON’T BE SHY is a choreographic investigation that intertwines movement, textiles, and voice to challenge societal judgments, especially those imposed on individuals socialized as women.
The work reclaims and redefines the sensual and sexual dimensions in which these bodies have historically been constrained.
In her directorial debut, Alessia Stracuzzi collaborates with three dancers and a live singer to explore themes of vulnerability and connection, creating a dynamic interplay between movement and sound.
Developed during a residency at Theatre House in Berlin (October 2024), the project has also been submitted for the Culture Moves Europe mobility grant in order to get founding for the next residency at Teatro del Lido (Ostia) in April 2024.
Maintenant
2024-2025
An intriguing live performance, each time different in colors and nuance.
Maintenant is a collaborative project between Alessia and Dabedeen, sound designer, which explores the fine line between control and submission, and the artists undertake a live social experiment in which the performance will always have a different outcome.
5 soundtracks, 5 choreographic scores, over 3,000 possible combinations.
Will these preliminary rules be a way of keeping control? Everything happens immediately, every cause, every effect, but above all every emotion, happens now. A guide to learning how to observe emotions and focus on the present, because even if the cause is far away, we are experiencing the effects now.
Selected for 7 days residency during Road to Nowhere by Dare To Share Collective
ideæbi
2022
What is skin if not a sheath that contains the very essence of everyone? What gives a visible and concrete form to what we are? A veil from where it cannot shine through all our experience, but rather that makes it faded and sometimes opposed to the truth. And what happens when this becomes a prison with no way out? When you feel like that bird in a cage but you tell yourself that it is still golden. When you feel it like tar but you show it to others like glitter. When at the same time it becomes the best and worst dress you can wear. Embellishing it with patches will not make you feel better but deciding how to wear it mindful of each tear can change your life.
ideæbi is a creative process in development fuelled by an intimate and personal research that refers to the experience of the author herself. It addresses the themes of appearance, form, appearance as opposed to substance, content and essence. It confronts the viewer with the dualism between idea and reality, guiding him into an existential conflict where acceptation is a plausible solution.
Creation process still under development, started thanks to the spaces of La Faktoria Choreographic Center.
In residence at P.A.R.T.S Studio in August 2022 and performed in Belgium.
What Makes It Lively
2021
Closed in a bubble, stopped.
From the frenetic chaos, the unstoppable movement, forcibly plunged into total stillness, into stasis, into silence.
The light slowly left space for the dark, from everything to nothing, from the hardness of reality to an immobile unreality.
Movement and quiet.
Everything seems to stop until something changes.
Nothingless remained the only constant. Permanent and irrevocable.
But only from nothing can something be born.
Video project about freedom denied in the still-present pandemic period , selected in LEKORU Curatorial Project and exhibited on the social media, website and at the space of

Lockdown
2020
Blurred feelings, given by an imposed condition, make you live a nightmare that ends only if you decide to react.
